We had the great fortune this summer of having our first Workaway person come to stay with us at Connaty Farms. A Workaway is person that is travelling in Canada that comes to stay with you for a cultural exchange. The travellers get to truly experience what it is like to live and work in Canada and the hosts benefit from their help and life experience. They will help with projects and tasks on your farm in exchange for room and board. Bryce and I have always thought this would be a great option for us... we love travelling and experiencing the world, but we also really enjoy having the world visit our little slice of heaven in Coal Harbour. I am frequently single handing the property in the summer because Bryce is away working, so this seemed like a wonderful opportunity. I had thought because of COVID-19 that there wouldn't be a lot of travellers coming though (and it wouldn't be safe), but Herve fell into our laps and we couldn't be happier.

Meet Herve LeBerre from Brittany, France. He was an amazing young gentleman that stayed with us for the month of July. He was helpful, self-motivated, thoughtful and very kind. We truly enjoyed having him stay with us.

Herve helping Bryce mulch the blueberries in the orchard.

Tearing apart a rotten old travel trailer with Merritt and Ocean.

Hiking to San Joseph Bay with the kids.

Tour of Alert Bay and the tallest totem pole in the world.

Skipping stones at Suquash.
