We have two sets of chicks now, born two weeks apart. Some were hatched by the broody hens and some were hatched by incubator.
There are three older chicks that are two weeks old. You can see they are forming their wing feathers already and flying around. Their names are Chicken Nugget, Cheepers and Choppa.
They stay nice and warm under the mama hen's feathers.
These chicks are from the second batch and are two or three days old now. Two chicks were hatched by the mama hen and 6 were hatched in the incubator and then placed underneath the hen. She has adopted them all and teaching them how to feed and scratch. There are three dark chicks, three russet brown and two light yellow. The incubator chicks were hatched by the biology teacher at PHSS and the students named them Lil Peep, Cluck Norris, Hase, Chester, Hen Solo and Corneen. We need names for the last two :)
Merritt is so gentle with the chicks!
