What should we call the Mama hen? This hen was broody, which meant that she just wanted to sit in the nest on top of eggs all day an night, so I decided to let her! I put her in a coop by herself with 12 fertilized eggs underneath her (we have 1 rooster - male - who has been fertilizing the females for a long time). She has food and water in her isolation coop, but when hens turn broody, they don't ten to need food or drink very much. I put the eggs underneath her on Friday, March 27th, and the gestation (time it takes to hatch eggs) is 21 days. We should have chicks hatch by Friday, April 17th! I'LL KEEP YOU POSTED!
